2012 Massanutten Yee-Ha Downhill Race Video!

On April 29, 2011, 210 racers blazed down the Yee Ha DH course at Massanutten Resort in McGaheysville Virginia. The overall winner, a 15 year old young man Luca Shaw blew the Adult Pro competition out of the water, with the time of 3:18. The only two racers from the Shenandoah Valley placed second in their respective categories. SBC native Collin Vento placed second in Men's Expert class despite dismounting his Carbon Trek Remedy after grazing a tree with his shoulder just above the final rock garden. Local, Sam Skidmore placed 12th overall on his Intense M9 and took second place in the Junior Men's Expert category with a time of 3:28:35 just .06 seconds slower than the winner, Robert Lewis riding for Trek Mountain Co-op.

SBCulture Series: JMU Cycle Share Tube & Lube

JMU Cycle Share is an awesome student organization with a fleet of sweet hybrid bicycles. Students get a free two week bike rental that includes lights, helmets and locks. Every two weeks, SBC folks pedal the portable bike shop to the JMU Cycle Share pick-up/drop-off spot at the commons to do routine maintenance on the fleet and free minor repairs for student cyclists.

SBCulture Series: SVBC 2012 Harris-Roubaix

The Harris-Roubaix is another great fun cycling event brought to you by SVBC that happens every Spring on the same day as the Paris-Roubaix. It is a casual group ride from Harrisonburg to a family farm about 7 miles North of Harrisonburg, from the farm there will be a 10-15 mile loop marked for your enjoyment. This year, Jeremiah Bishop took the crown of the Harris-Roubaix.

More Single Track on the way...Roubaix Gravel ready, are you?

Last night was another great Thursday Trail Work evening at Massanutten. The new trail being built is deep in the woods but the great part is the ride out after working,  down the Lower Ravie Trail, Hanakaum Trail and Short Track.  Sun setting to the west with the moon rising over the estern ridge.  No trail work next Thursday as the IMBA Trail Care Crew visits Harrisonburg, but you can sign up for any of the IMBA events now.

The Roubaix is on like Donkey Kong! A 14.5 mile lap has been approved by the UCI/SVBC committee. Don't hesistate to bring your kids, the farm is a beautiful place for the little and big ones.

Harris-Roubaix Next Sunday April 8th!

This past weekend seemed like the first full event cycling weekend for 2012....and so many more fun ones to come. Thanks to Jake, I9 wheels and everyone else who came out to SBC on Friday night for the I9 Wheel Night.  SBC will have some DEMO wheels (Road and Mountain)  for the next few weeks for folks to try, call to reserve pair.

A double header this past weekend on the race front, Saturday was the Blue Ridge School Race, amazing trails at this private boarding school only 45 minutes from the Burg. Sunday's weather was perfect for SMT's Dragon's Tale Race, another epic adventure from Chris and crew.

Next up: The spring classic-SVBC's Harris-Roubaix!! The year of heat and deep gravel!
