Most people know that you should always replace a helmet if you've been in a crash. You should also replace a helmet when:
- the foam is cracked or damaged
- the helmet is from the 1970's
- the outside of the helmet is just foam or cloth (it should be plastic)
- there is no CPSC, ASTM, or Snell sticker on the inside
- you cannot adjust it to fit properly (helmets should never be to "grow into")
