Yesterday Thomas, Collin & David vacated the Valley and SBC to head to the higher mountains west of town. The destination was Flagpole or Reddish Knob, the bike to test was the new
Salsa Mukluk. After climbing the pavement/ice/snow we made it to the saddle. With the pavement covered with snow and perfectly packed down by the "Bear" trucks we choose to head to Reddish Knob.

The clear winter views along the ridge to Reddish were amazing, the trail conditions were about the same....What are perfect winter trail conditions? 4-6" of snow, minimal wind, below freezing temperatures (but not too cold) and trails that were already traveled (needed..otherwise too much walking)!

As with usual winter conditions the key is preparation (winter shoes & spare cloths) and enough allotted time to allow for ride "variables"..which includes additional walking time. The downhill down Timber, Upper Wolfe and Lynn was a blast! Our advice...Get out there now!
